EBCA Urges the European Commission to Continue Its Efforts to Support Economic Competitiveness and Counterbalance Trade Measures

BRUSSELS, August 2025—EBCA, representing over 75 European and global branded clothing brands, welcomes the broader principle behind the European Union and United States trade agreement to de-escalate transatlantic trade tensions.

EBCA reiterates its strong support for the multilateral, rules-based trading system. Global trade rules benefit all players by enabling predictability, encouraging long-term investment, and supporting fair competition. This is especially important for the European clothing sector, which contributes €331.8 billion to the EU economy, equivalent to 8.5% of the EU’s retail and trade GDP and supports 4.5 million jobs across Europe.
